There’s a castle overlooking the sea in Alanya, which we toured on Saturday. Our guide talked a lot about religion and cisterns, but not so much about the history of the castle. After a bit of investigation, I’ve learned that the castle was built in the 13th century on the remnants of Byzantine and Roman fortresses.
We had a very fun time climbing around the castle, despite the 95 degree temperatures and lack of breeze. The views of the city and the sea were gorgeous, and I was sure to take many pictures of the group and the scenery.
