I’ve seen Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris several times now – the most recent in a small movie theatre in New York with a box of Raisinettes. The film is beautiful and the premise charming, but what gets me every time is the soundtrack.
Here’s the view from Montmarte – incredible, no? We climbed all the way to the top, where the cathedral Sacre Cour stands, and sat and watched the sun rise from dawn to day. As time passed, crowds flocked to the cathedral – there were wedding parties taking photographs, schoolchildren from all around the world staring in awe, and musicians playing violin to the masses. There were two strange “statue men,” who dressed in all white and stood very still, allowing people to take pictures with them.
I would really love to visit Paris again, especially in the summertime. It was beautiful in January, but how nice would it be to walk the parks and see flowers and bright green everywhere?
Here’s a song from the Midnight in Paris soundtrack to satiate your wanderlust.
